Lawrence Durrell (1912–1990) was a prolific writer in the mid 20th -20th century, working across such forms as poetry, novel-writing, travel-writing and for the stage, as well as other extended non-fiction, criticism and essays. Later in his careerAs an occasional diversion, he turned to painting under the pseudonym Oscar Epfs. He is the older brother of naturalist, zookeeper and author Gerald Durrell.
