Rowling, J. K.

Rare books by J. K. Rowling, including first editions and signed first edition copies of the Harry Potter Books.

J. K. Rowling is the author of the best-selling Harry Potter series, and famous for her rapid rise from struggling single mother to multi-millionaire. Her first book was published in the UK in 1997 as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and in the United States as The Sorcerer’s Stone. The print run of the true first edition was very small – only about two thousand copies, of which 500 were hardcover and the rest paperback. Most were sent to libraries where they received a great deal of wear and tear, meaning that copies in collectible condition are scarce and highly collectible. Between 1998 and 2007 Rowling published six additional books in the series, but unsigned copies of only the first three are particularly valuable, as the latter books were printed in the millions and are easily obtainable. Rowling has also published several short supplementary volumes for charity.

Regularly stocked editions of Rowling's works include the first Deluxe edition.
