Welcome to Peter Harrington Books

KIPLING, Rudyard.

Rare books by Rudyard Kipling, including first edition, signed first edition, and finely bound copies of The Jungle Book, Just-So Stories, and Kim, and handsome sets of his collected works.

Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was a British author whose work was heavily influenced by colonialism. Kipling spent his early years in India before beginning his education in England. His first book, Schoolboy Lyrics, was published privately by his parents in 1881 and is today considered a great rarity. After graduation he moved back to India and began working for the Lahore Civil and Military Gazette, and in 1884 he published a collection of parodic verse entitled Echoes.
