  1. Chess the Hard Way!

    Chess the Hard Way!

First edition, with the scarce and striking jacket, of this analytical recounting of the chess games of Canadian-born chess champion D. A. Yanofsky (1925-2000), who in 1939, at just 14 years old, played sensationally for Canada at the Buenos Aires Olympiad, gaining the highest score on second board. He won the British Championship in 1953. Appealingly Yanofsky has intermixed the dry analysis of moves with some biographical (and even emotional) background for each game, "because the success of many a master has been dependent on the small things that are rarely printed by always to be reckoned with".
