A History of Arabian Music to the XIIIth Century.

[with two offprints of articles by Farmer in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society:] Music, The Priceless Jewel (1941); The Music of the Arabian Nights (1945).
First edition, first impression of this pioneering study of Arab music from the pre-Islamic period until the extinction of the ‘Abbasid caliphate in 1258, uncommon in the dust jacket, this copy accompanied by two interesting offprints, and with a nice association, containing the ownership inscription of American Arabist Robert Brenton Betts, author of The Druze (1991) and other works, to the front pastedown (dated Cairo 1987), and also to the inside wrapper of one of the offprints, Music, The Priceless Jewel (dated 31 January 1994).
