John Cary was a prolific and highly regarded English cartographer, publisher and globe maker, most active in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He was best known for his very accurate and detailed English county atlases. This fine map of the Welsh county of Monmouth is from his ‘New English Atlas’.
