A fine map of Nova Scotia showing Prince Edward Island, part of New Brunswick and New Foundland. John Cary was considered ‘the most representative, able and prolific of English cartographers’. Tooley says, ‘As an engraver he was elegant and exact with fine clear lettering and great delicacy of touch’. When the Ordnance Survey began accurately mapping the UK, they used John Cary’s style as the basis for their work. Cary’s New Universal Atlas.
