AA, Pieter van der
Carte des pays Bas Catholiques,
suivant les Nouvelles Observations de Messrs de L'Academie Royale des Sciences etc...
Pieter van der AA (1659-1733) was from a family of booksellers and publishers in Leiden, who flourished during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. His work was well executed and highly regarded by his contemporaries. The maps themselves are easily recognised and distinguished by their attractive title cartouches, and for the precise cartographic detail they contain. This map highlights the two largely Catholic provinces of north Brabant and Limbourg.
