The Beggar’s Opera is a scene from John Gay’s popular farce, which emphasized Hogarth’s prevailing interests: his involvement with the theatre and with down-to-earth, comic subjects. A Just View of the British Stage or Three Heads are Better than One is a satirical view of the management of British plays and mocks the subjects as degenerate.

Copper engraving. Uncoloured. Very good condition. Some staining to outer margins, not affecting image. Size: 28 x 47.5 cm. (11 x 18 inches)
