The Castle of Bolsover in Darbyshire.
A fine view of the twelfth century Bolsover Castle, situated near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. The castle was originally built for the Peverel family however, the Earls of Derby claimed all Peverel lands when they fled England into exile. During the English Civil War (1642-51) the castle was taken by the Parliamentarians, and was ‘slighted’ and left in a ruinous state. Published in the multi-volume work entitled “Les Delices de la Grande Bretagne & L’Irlande”.
