Il Paese de Cherachesi, con la Parte Occidentale della Carolina Settentrionale, e della Virginia
Country of the Cherokees, western part of North Carolina, and Virginia.
An interesting map, showing the western extent of the United States, with the Mississippi forming a natural border. There are texts on the map relating to Six Nations and negotiations between the English and the Indians. Antonio Zatta was one of the leading cartographers and publishers of the time, and his Atlante Novissimo was one of the most beautifully produced of 18th century atlases. He drew on the work of other cartographers- such as Captain Cook, for his maps of New Zealand and Australia, Robert de Vaugondy, Bellin, and developed his own distinctive elegant style.
