AA, Pieter van der
Mexique ou Nouvelle Espagne,
suivant les Nouvelles Observations de Messrs de L'Academie Royale des Sciences etc...
Pieter van der AA (1659-1733) was from a family of booksellers and publishers in Leiden, who flourished during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. His work was well executed and highly regarded by his contemporaries. The maps themselves are easily recognised and distinguished by their attractive title cartouches, and for the precise cartographic detail they contain. A wonderful map of the new conquests made by the Spanish in Mexico and Central America. Map extant is from Costa Rica and Guatemala in the south to Guadalajara and Sinaloa in the north.
