The original illustration, signed by the artist, for one of the character sketches in Mary Russell Mitford’s “Our Village”, which comprised a series of sketches of country life. Brock’s illustrations form part of the “Series of English Idylls” published by J. M. Dent & Co. The scene depicted shows the opening of chapter 2, with the narrator and her dog Mayflower setting out for a walk through the snow.

Original pen-and-ink watercolour illustration (366 239 mm), in a wash-line mount and gold leaf frame. Margins marked and toned, imagine clean and bright, in very good condition.
