A New Map of Scotland
according to Gordon of Straloch.
A striking, large map of Scotland shown in great detail by John Senex. The map is enhanced by a beautiful title cartouche in the upper right corner. Each separate county is coloured in outline. Senex was a noted publisher, engraver and seller of maps, atlases and globes during the first half of the eighteenth century. He became the geographer to Queen Anne, and was duly elected to the Royal Society in 1728. This map was published in his ‘A New General Atlas…’.
