Auctore Humeredo Lhuydo, Denbigiense Cambrobritanno.
A later edition of the 1630 Cloppenburg map of Wales. There is no text on the verso, and all of the sea hatching and the engraver’s name have been erased. This map is from Cloppenburg’s version of Mercator’s earlier and larger 1607 ‘Atlas Minor’. This map is based on the original work first done by the Welsh cartographer Humphrey LLuyd of Denbigh in 1567, and issued in Abraham Ortelius’ ground breaking atlas; ‘Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’. This is a lovely example of this map.
