ALBANIS BEAUMONT, Jean Francois.
Entrance of the Bay of Toulon.
A superb and attractive sepia aquatint view of Toulon Bay by Albanis Beaumont (1753-1810), with the town visible in the distance. Beaumont was born in Piedmont, but naturalised in England. Between the years 1787 and 1806 he published a great number of views in the south of France, in the Alps, and in Italy. Printed by T. Bensley, and published for William Faden in London. This print is from a scarce book of Travels through The Maritime Alps from Italy to Lyons, across the Col de Tende by way of Nice, Provence, Languedoc etc. Prints of this calibre, and of this region are uncommon and desirable.
