Reims en Champagne.
This a lovely, well engraved and detailed ‘bird’s eye’ town plan of the French city of Reims by the accomplished Swiss engraver and publisher, Matthaus Merian. He became extremely well known for his engravings of plans and of town views in the seventeenth century. This particular engraving comes from Gottfried’s ‘Neuwe Archontologia Cosmica’.
