Alexandria: A History and A Guide.
First edition, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed by the author to Hugh Walpole on the front free endpaper “For Hugh, from E. M. Forster” and with Walpole’s Brackenburn book label on the front pastedown. Copies of the first edition are rare, as most of the print run was destroyed by fire.
Octavo. Original buff paper boards, titles to spine and front board in black. Engraved frontispiece and 17 plates, 2 folding maps in the text, one coloured folding map in pocket on rear pastedown. Rear board very lightly cockled, boards faintly marked, partial tanning to endpapers. An excellent copy.
