Description Without Place.
[Read by the author as the Phi Beta Kappa poem at Harvard University in June, 1945].
First edition, first printing. Distributed as an offprint from The Sewanee Review, and, according to Edelstein “not for sale; number of copies unknown” but clearly a very small print run: Copac records no copies in British and Irish institutional libraries, OCLC lists one copy only (Huntington), and, aside from citing his own copy and that of Stevens’s daughter Holly, Edelstein locates only the copy at Yale. Very scarce.
Octavo, pp. 7. Original buff printed wrapper, stapled as issued. Light peripheral toning to wrappers. An exemplary copy.
