Ship of Fools.
First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author on the half-title “To David Battan with every good wish – Happy Christmas and New Year! Katherine Anne Porter. 1 December 1966, Washington D. C.” She has also drawn an arrow pointing to the right and written “Follow this line please”. The arrow appears again on the title page with “Onward!”, on the dedication page with “further –” and finally appears pointing at the note about the book’s title with “Read!” indicating the German moral allegory from which the novel’s titles was derived.
