First edition, first printing of the first of McEvoy’s novels to feature Dixie Dugan, a Brooklyn-born showgirl who conquers Broadway and Hollywood, and who was the central character in several films. McEvoy is also known for his plays and novels that were adapted into films for W. C. Fields. A very attractive copy of a title that is scarce in the jacket.

Octavo. Original lavender cloth, titles to spine and pictorial decoration to upper board gilt. With the dust jacket. Spine rolled, faint dampstain to top edge of lower board, partial toning to free endpapers. A very good copy in the lightly rubbed jacket with several small chips and closed tears repaired with brown paper attached to the verso.
