First UK edition. With Ethel de Keyser’s ownership inscription to the front free endpaper. Ethel was a Jewish South African woman who dedicated her life to the African liberation movement. She was the executive secretary for the anti-arpartheid movement in London and was awarded the OBE in 2000 for services to human rights. She died of a heart attack in 2004. Nelson Mandela in his tribute to her described her as “a brave and courageous human being”.
