Contemporary prize binding of black full calf by Bickers, raised bands gilt to spine forming compartments, gilt-lettered red morocco label to second, remaining compartments ruled in gilt with floral corner- and centrepieces gilt, twin rules to covers gilt, crest of De Aston school, Market Rasen, gilt to front, red edges, marbled endpapers. Engraved portrait frontispiece and vignette title page. Prize plate to front pastedown, dated 1903. Spine slightly faded, light foxing to endleaves. An excellent copy in a striking binding.
