TIFFANY, Louis Comfort.
Hand-Coloured Master Copies for the Printing Three New York Yacht Club Invitations.
Two of the cards are signed in pencil with the distinctive “Tiffany” in the lower left. The third is partially printed with hand coloured pennants and is signed in ink by J.V.S. Oddie, secretary of the NYYC. Tiffany was the house designer for the NYCC, producing numerous trophies and medals for the club, and designing and manufacturing decorative fittings and features for the new clubhouse, a masterpiece of restrained American Belle Époque styling, that opened in 1901. The immense skylight in the Model Room, the largest Tiffany glass commission, is rightly renowned. Highly attractive and evocative.
