(SUTHERLAND, Graham.) COOPER, Douglas, Franco Russoli, & Vittorio Viale.
First edition, first printing. Presentation copy from the artist, inscribed on the front free endpaper: “For Margaret McCall, Graham Sutherland, 22.XI.65” and with a loosely inserted autograph card (written in red ink) reading: “Dear Miss McCall, Many thanks for your letter of the 19 November. I presume your letter is in answer to my telegram from Menton [on the Côte d’Azur, where Sutherland’s villa was located]? With regard to your outline list of paintings I am in favour” (unsigned, undated, on letterhead from Sutherland’s Kent home). An excellent association copy: Margaret McCall (1925-2009) was a distinguished BBC producer of arts and music documentaries who produced two profiles of Sutherland that aired on BBC 2 on 14 December 1965 and 8 May 1968, the first with the artist in conversation with Malcolm Muggeridge.
