Coming Up For Air.
First edition, first impression. Signed by the author “Geo. Orwell” on the front free endpaper. From the library of Michael Meyer with his 1945 ownership inscription to the front free endpaper, Meyer is best known for his revered translations and biographies of Ibsen and Strindberg. He was extremely well connected in literary circles of mid 20th century Britain and included Graham Greene and George Orwell amongst his closest friends. Orwell considered this work to be his finest novel. Signed copies are of the utmost scarcity indeed the present copy and and inscribed reprint are the only two of which we are aware.
