First edition and uncommon, just 6 locations outside of Australasia on OCLC. Presentation copy from one of the contributors, inscribed on the original front free endpaper: “Leslie Stephen from Harold W. H. Stephen, Sydney, N.S.W., 1873”. H. W. H. Stephen (1841-1889) was a writer and, for a brief period, editor of the Sydney Punch; he contributes two pieces to the present work: “My Dream” (a poem) and a ghost story, “Hans von Schloggenbochs”. The recipient is presumably Sir Leslie Stephen (1832-1904). author, literary critic, and first editor of the Dictionary of National Biography.

Octavo (214 133 mm).. Recent half calf, marbled sides. Lithographed decorative title and 9 lithograph plates (including one of Sydney Harbour). Marginal stain to inscribed leaf, a few leaves a little tired but a very good copy.
