(SNOW, C. P.) STEINER, George.
The Death of Tragedy.
First edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “For Charles and Pamela Snow, in gratitude and admiration, George Steiner (March 16, 1961)”. The recipients were the novelist and physicist C. P. Snow and his wife. Snow once described the literary critic Steiner as “a latter-day Edmund Wilson, at least as gifted and much more learned… His own existence is a cultural phenomenon in which we can take a decent pride”.
