Foreword by Don Heckman. With Photographs and Writings by William Claxton...
First Edition. The most comprehensive collection of Claxton’s work yet published. A review copy with advance information letter addressed to Charis Conn of Harper’s, biography of Claxton and list of artists featured in the book. This copy inscribed on the title page in the year of publication, “To Arthur [Newman] – with my Best Wishes, William Claxton, May 29, 1999.” Newman, was a pioneer collector of Jazz recordings and books, a stalwart of Record Research and leading authority on the Swing era. A large and heavy book, tough to find in good shape, and here with excellent provenance.
