First edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author to the actress Anna Massey, who acted in a number of his plays (including “Moonlight” and “A Kind of Alaska”). The inscription reads, “Close of Play, May 79, To Anna, with love + thanks, Harold”. Massey was from one of the great theatre families of the 20th century, being the daughter of Raymond Massey and Adrianne Allen. Though she never reached truly stellar fame, Anna Massey was a highly respected actress and very much a prominent feature of the thespian landscape of the late 20th century. In 2004 she was awarded a CBE for her services to drama. One of a limited edition of 1000 numbered copies intended for sale in the British Isles, this one signed by the author at the end of the text.
