Pardon My Cheek.
First Edition, First Impression. With the author’s signed presentation inscription to the title-page “To Krystyna Thank you for your kindness, Good wishes always Monty Modlyn Nov 1973.” Montague (“Monty”) Modlyn was a BBC radio and TV “roving reporter”. He cultivated an East End working-class image, together with a total lack of respect for the rich and famous. His most famous interview in this vein was with Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, whom he ingenuously asked how many people he had murdered. Amin responded “You very cheeky man!” which the delighted Modlyn adapted to create his catch-phrase.
