The dedication copy with the author’s signed presentation inscription to the front free endpaper, “To Frank, most of all because it is as much his book as it is mine – in gratitude and friendship May 1943 Paul Tabori”. The printed dedication reads, “To Frank Betts His Book”. Betts was Tabori’s agent.
