First edition, first impression, this copy from the Gollancz archive with their ink-stamp to the title-page. American-born journalist Negley Farson, not to be confused with his son of the same name, was “one of the world’s most popular travel writers in the years before the Second World War” (Taylor, Fishing the River of Time, p. 73).

Octavo. Original black cloth. With the dust jacket. Soiling to cloth, in the dust jacket sunning to spine, wear to extremities. A very good copy.
