Roosevelt”. In 1939 FDR appointed the poet Archibald MacLeish (1892–1982) the ninth Librarian of Congress.

Octavo (253 x 184 mm). Original japon-backed marbled boards, blue paper label to spine, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Housed in a custom blue quarter morocco slipcase and chemise. With the bookplate of Donald Scott Carmichael and laid-in envelope label addressed to Archibald MacLeish from “The President”. Pale foxing to japon; an excellent copy, internally fine.
