Nach Jourdain, Morier, Jaubert, v. Kotzebue, Tancoigne.
First edition. Uncommon, just six sets showing on OCLC. Rarely encountered in the wraps which actually include two of the listed illustrations, a Persian danseuse on the front panel, and for contrast an Imam on the rear. From Hartleben’s Miniaturgemälde aus der Länder- und Völkerkunde, a similar enterprise to Shoberl’s World in Miniature, the series running to some 50 titles over a ten year period.
2 volumes small octavo (154 94 mm). Original grey thin paper illustrated wraps. Housed in a cloth flat back solander box with chemise. Folding frontispiece to each, and 12 other plates in all, two of these folding. A very pretty set, the wraps a little rubbed, and tanned at the spines, that of volume I with some minor repairs, but remains very good.
