A demurely attractive book printed on handmade paper at the Curwen Press, displaying Wadsworth’s great love of the sea in a series of detailed and accurate engravings of a variety of ships that were fast disappearing from the western Mediterranean and Adriatic.

Quarto. Original cream coloured cloth spine lettered in gilt, orange cloth sides, nautical motif stamped in gilt on front cover, untrimmed. With the original blue-grey card slipcase. Plain copperplate title, 2 head-pieces (one coloured), 17 plates (all but one handcoloured), map of part of the Mediterranean, tail-piece. A little wear to slipcase otherwise an excellent copy.
