A Little Oven.
First edition, first printing. Presentation copy from the author, charmingly inscribed on the front free endpaper: “For Genevieve, This story of another Genevieve and of Helena – with lots of little ‘ovin’s and ‘ugging – Eleanor Estes. Happy Birthday! October 16 1966”; this is a reference to the character of Helena in the book, whose mother picks her up when she is tired and says “What you need is a little loving and a little hugging”. Eleanor Estes won the Newbery Medal for Ginger Pye (1951) and three other books were Newbery Honor winners.
