All first editions. A complete set of the Andrew Lang Fairy Books. Lang, poet, scholar and journalist devoted most of his life to the compilation of traditional Fairy stories from around the world from both the ancient and modern world. With the publication of the Blue Fairy Book in 1889 he commenced his famous series. In his “supervision” Lang always made his stories gentle and appeasing removing the cruelty and so more suited to his young audience.

12 volumes, octavo. Recent brown morocco, twin coloured labels that reflect the title of the book, marbled endpapers, front cover bound in at back, gilt edges. Illustrated throughout by H. J. Ford. Light foxing or marking to a few leaves of some volumes (mainly marginal). Very good.
