First edition, first impression in the first binding. A fictional reconstruction of events leading up to the mysterious and melodramatic death of the 1830s poet Letitia Elizabeth Landon, found dead in her room at the age of thirty-six, slumped against the door with an empty bottle of prussic acid in her hand.

Octavo. Original pink silk, titles to spine gilt, top edge trimmed others not so. Frontispiece and six plates. Some mild spotting throughout, spine tanned boards a little marked. Very good.
