First edition, in which Hoag presents his theory of interest, attempting to solve the dispute between wage earners and capitalists using a language accessible to all. “The keystone of economic theory is the conception of value. Without a correct theory of value it was impossible to work out a correct theory of interest, and without a correct theory of interest it was impossible to work out correct theories of price and of distribution” (preface.)

Octavo (190 123 mm). Publisher’s red cloth, spine ruled and lettered gilt. Presentation inscription, “To Herr Professor von Schulze-Gavernitz with the cordial regards of his friend Clarence Gilbert Hoag” dated February 9, 1924 to front free endpaper. In excellent condition.
