First edition of Sraffa’s attempt to perfect classical economics’ theory of value, as originally developed by David Ricardo and others. “Production of Commodities is a peculiarly sparse book. The argument has been pared to the absolute minimum to sustain the propositions which Sraffa wishes to advance. Yet, the precision and logical elegance of the argument are ‘the work of an artist working in the medium of economic theory’ (P. Newman)” (John Eatwell in The New Palgrave).

Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered gilt, with the dust jacket. A little fading to board edges; an excellent copy in the slightly faded jacket with some nicks and chips to extremities.
