Quarto. Original brown quarter morocco, gilt lettered spine, brown morocco-grain cloth sides, top edges gilt, others untrimmed, marbled endpapers. Monochrome frontispiece and 28 plates (with tissue guards) by Greiffenhagen and Caton Woodville, decorated initial letters by Edward Whymper and others. Spine rolled, upper joint split at head, staining at head of front cover. A very good copy.
