First London edition, probably following the Dublin edition published the same year. The satire dated back to 1704, but Swift kept the manuscript by him; he is known to have been working on it in 1731 and probably the following year, though it shows some signs of remaining unfinished. It was finally published posthumously in the year of his death.

Octavo (200 x 125 mm). Contemporary calf front board (ownership inscription of W. Chichester on pastedown), rebacked and with calf rear board from another binding. Bookplate of Robert S. Pirie. Extremities rubbed or repaired, front joint cracked, title and last page browned, a good copy.

Bibliography: Teerink, 785.
