SHOBERL, Frederic (ed.)
Forget Me Not.
A Christmas and New Year's Present for MDCCCXXIX.
First edition. Forget Me Not, a yearly gift book compiling short stories and poetry based on engravings commissioned by the publisher, was the first English annual of its type and an overnight success. It spawned an entire industry, with at least sixty competitors appearing by 1831. Frederic Shoberl was the annual’s first editor, serving in that capacity until 1834.
