Mont Orgueil Castle. A Tale of Jersey during the Wars of the Roses.
First edition. Uncommon historical novel, just five copies on Copac, and none added to this total by OCLC. Dedicated to “Colonel E.C. Malet de Carteret … representative of that patriotic, heroic and loyal family, a small portion of whose noble deeds are recorded within these pages”, tells of intrigue and acts of derring-do during the French occupation of Jersey in the fifteenth century. The sub-title given on the cover differs from that on the title page, reading “A Tale of Jersey during the Civil War”. Contemporary prize inscription verso of the half-title.
