First published 1651, this an expanded second edition. Contains Izaak Walton’s life of Wotton together with a selection of Wotton’s papers including his Elements of Architecture, first published 1621, reflecting “his accumulated insights during two decades” as a diplomat in Florence and Venice.

Duodecimo (141 69 mm). Nineteenth-century half calf, marbled boards, black morocco label, foliate gilt roll to low bands, buff endpapers. Portrait frontispiece and 3 other portraits, Slightly rubbed, neat restoration on the joints and corners, frontispiece and title page trimmed a little tight, light browning and a persistent pale damp-stain to the margins throughout, but overall very good.
