First collected edition. Dunbar (1460–1513 or 30) was a poet of the court of James IV of Scotland. Well regarded by his contemporaries and by later writers, this edition was the book that “consolidated his reputation in the early nineteenth century and marked the beginning of serious biographical research” (ODNB).

2 volumes, octavo (185 115 mm). Contemporary red crushed morocco by Andrew Grieve of Edinburgh, spines gilt in compartments, boards gilt panelled, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Ownership inscription to each front blank. Joints repaired. An excellent set.
