First editions, first impressions. Aldous Huxley was one of the eyewitnesses approached by journalist Tom Hopkinson (alias “Vindicator”) for his pamphlet on the violent clashes between Blackshirts and Communist and Jewish groups at the Oswald Mosley rally at Olympia on 7 June 1934. The British Union of Fascists’ retorted with the publication of their own compilation of eyewitnesses’ statements, including David Lloyd George’s, its presentation offset from the Gollancz pamphlet only through the colour of the wrappers.
