SLOANE, William Milligan.
Life of Napoleon Bonaparte
First published in 1896. William Milligan Sloane was professor of history at Princeton University, and editor of both the Political Science Quarterly and the American Historical Review. In conversation, the late John Sandler, pre-eminent British Napoleonic collector, revealed that Sloane had been the cornerstone of his remarkable collection, purchased by him at the age of 7 from a bouquiniste on the Embankment.
