ROE, C. H., & R. L. McClintock.
Historical Record of the 2nd “Queen Victoria’s Own” Sappers and Miners. From 1780 to … 1923
First edition. Decidedly uncommon, only one location on Copac – IWM – OCLC adds just Brown – “much interesting detail, presented in terse but readable form” (Perkins). This copy contains volume I, 1780-1910, [ii], 245pp; volume II part I, 1910-1914, [viii], 39pp.; volume II, part II, 1914-1919, [vi], 39pp.; Appendix J. Notes on the Medals awarded to the Corps for its Various Campaigns. [ii], pp. 41-6 in continuation of the previous, “compiled by Lieut.-Col. R. L. McClintock, Commandant, 1919-1923”; and volume II, (2), 1919-1923, also compiled by McClintock and with the imprint “Bangalore: Printed at the Sapper Press, 1923”.
2 volumes, octavo, bound as one. Original plum cloth, lettered in black on the front board with the corps badge. Somewhat rubbed and sunned, some bubbling and mottling on the lower board, hinges a touch loose – uncracked – but consequently perhaps a little shaken, light toning, remains a very good copy.
